PLC News Administration Guide

The PLC News Web Part allows firms to deploy practice specific news using the PLC news feeds.  In order to enhance this ability each story comes with the ability to rate, comment, email and print stories using the icons below each article.

The PLC News Web Part can only be edited in Shared Mode by an administrator.  To add the web part to a web part page, click on Site Actions, Select Edit Page and choose the PLCNews web part.  Click on the edit label and select Modify Shared Web Part and the settings box shown here will appear.  Select the required feed and the number of items per page, click OK. Due to the way SharePoint caches, you need to visit another page and then return to the same page which will now show the selected news feed.

In order to store the rated stories and comments from users, the web part creates two document libraries in the parent site, called SyseroStories and SyseroVotes.  The first will hold a list of all stories that have been rated or commented.  The second will contain the votes cast and user comments.
