Sysero Knowledge Builder

Templates and Merge Fields

Managing many templates has always been a problem for law firms.  SyseroKB allows KM personnel to use existing Know How documents to build a library that combines templates, clauses and know how documents.  However there's not much point having a decent set of templates if you have to search through the document to find and replace terms like "Client" and "Landlord".  SyseroKB allows firms to define a standard set of variables (like Client and Landlord) which can be added to a template.  If the required variable isn't in the list you can add your own as SyseroKB uses standard Word Merge Fields (it's a bit quicker with our Add Fields button).  When you create a document from a template which contains fields, the SyseroKB Questionnaire provides a simple form to complete to finish off your document.

The Validator and the Questionnaire are available from the Knowledge Management menu which is added to Word when SyseroKB is installed.  If your document contains items from the KM Library, the Validator will ask you to check these when the document is opened.  Similarly , if your document contains fields which haven't been completed, the Questionnaire will prompt you to complete these when you save the document. SyseroKB can be used in conjunction with Sharepoint 2007 approval workflows, or in a simple scenarios where an administrator controls the library and users only retrieve the content.  In this configuration, SyseroKB can use UC Logic's own servers and the administrator can add, edit and delete documents from within Word without ever being aware of Sharepoint.  For a technical grounding of the product, and how it uses Sharepoint 2007, view the white paper here.
